If you continue to have issues with this option unticked, please change the Renderer dropdown from your GPU to WARP – this will force the app to use the software to render your document and not your GPU. Disabling this option should give you the same performance as 1.8.x. “ If you still have 1.10.x installed, can you please untick hardware Acceleration and try editing an image again to see if you have the same issues. Submitted by Clive Thorp (thanks!) after his conversations with Affinity Support. If your crash was caused by the same reasons as mine, then Affinity Photo should now work in Windows 10 without automatically closing 9 times out of 10 when you try to run it. On the Properties dialogue box, click onto the Compatibility tab and select Run this program in compatibility mode for, then choose Windows 8 from the drop down box. Right Click the Affinity Photo icon and select Properties: This will open Windows Explorer in the correct folder. To do that, search for Affinity Photo in your start menu and right click the icon and select Open File Location. There is also a second solution you might want to try. It's simply to run Affinity Photo in Windows 8 compatibility mode. However, I found a solution in my case that has worked so far (touch wood). The most common “fix” is to update the graphics drivers on your computer. If you look at affinity forums, you'll see them littered with complaints from angry Windows 10 users.

I personally have Affinity on 2 computers, and this problem only occurs on one of them. It crashes and closes a lot when opening. However, there is a serious problem with it that is frustrating users of Windows 10.

Affinity Photo is a great tool for editing photos, and I love that it can integrate the Nik collection.
